Aurora Purse
I have a purple purse I really like; the colour, the size, the compartments. I challenged myself to make a quilted version of it. After some tweaks and iterations, I present the Aurora Purse! It features a magnetic snap front pocket, zipper closure, adjustable strap, and inner pocket. It’s both functional and cute.
The first bag I made was with the Tula Pink What a Ditz fabric in Frost. I love a good floral print and love how I paired it with the bold pink. After using this bag for several days, I decided to deepen the body and shorten the front pocket for aesthetics.
Ruby Star Version: I had the Selvedge Icon fabric set aside for a while now and thought this was the perfect time to finally use it. I paired it with Checkmate in Macaron from the Washi Plus collection for the lining. The accent fabric and strap is also Ruby Star but I don't know what the collection is called.
Tula Pink Version: I also wanted to make a purse with these tone on tone owls from Tula Pink, but what to pick for the accent fabric? A lot of Tula prints are bold, and I didn't want to overpower the subtle owls. I ended up fussy cutting the Just Bearly fabric from Greyworks, to only have the leaves and used that for the binding around the bag. I pieced the bear scraps together for the lining and the strap is plain black.

The pattern says a 1" width zipper is ideal. This is because the zipper stopper tab you will make is 1.5" wide. I found the size ratio between the two the most visually pleasing. You can use a wider zipper, as long as it is less than 1.5".
